Taylor Swift’s relationships have been over-publicized by the media owing to her global fame, but the struggle with her parents’ divorce has mostly remained a ‘secret.’ Years later, fans have dissected songs that portray the story of the heartbreaking separation of her parents away from the limelight.

The singer, who is known for her breakup anthems, has found a dreamy relationship with Travis Kelce this year. Along with the celebrity couple‘s cute moments caught on camera making them perfect for each other, fans have praised how both stars have divorced parents. They show up for them no matter what, and it’s something they can talk about. Taylor Swift‘s parents, Andrea and Scott, have been spotted cheering for their daughter despite their own breakup. Still, rumors say, there was a time when they felt the strain of the relationship. While Taylor has never talked about her private struggle openly, fans found tell-tale songs hinting at her mental status while going through the tumultuous time.

Taylor Swift’s parents wanted to pause their divorce for her career

The beginning years of Taylor Swift’s career were not easy, and several factors drove the singer to pen some of her heart-wrenching songs of the decade. The music star’s parents, who tied the knot on February 20, 1989, reportedly started having marital strains twenty years later. The couple finally got divorced in 2011.

After the You Belong With Me crooner’s official debut in 2006, an insider claimed the duo wanted to keep it all under wraps to focus on Tay’s career instead.

“The Swifts stopped wearing their wedding rings,” an insider said at the time. “They haven’t filed for divorce because they don’t want it to damage Taylor’s career.”

While their relationship changed over the first few years of Taylor’s success, disagreements also somehow became an issue for the celebrity. Another source told Page Six: “They are not on the same page and don’t even like to be in the same room.

“Andrea requests that her husband not be present at meetings. Over the years, her mother has been her constant cheerleader.”

“Careless man’s careful daughter”

Swifties, aka T. Swizzle’s fans, are famous for their incredible power of digging deep into her discography and relating it to her life. The Grammy-winning singer has admitted to mostly drawing inspiration from her personal life and struggles for her lyrics.

So fans speculate songs from her 2010 Speak Now album and Red are inspired by her parents’ divorce.

A Redditor explained: “She has never really discussed her parents’ marriage in her music before, just the “careless man’s careful daughter” line in Mine. But, I think she’s finally writing about it now in 2 songs – Illicit Affairs and Hoax.”

Another song The Best Day on Taylor’s Fearless album could be about her mother, whom she has always admired.
