Almost as if on cue, just as the NHC announced Hurricane Leslie’s grand debut, NASA’s Aqua satellite, equipped with the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), snapped a stunning natural-color image of the storm. The image revealed a classic hurricane structure – a well-defined eye encircled by a swirling mass of clouds, stretching hundreds of kilometers across the Atlantic.

By September 6th, Hurricane Leslie was still holding strong as a Category 1 hurricane, boasting maximum sustained winds of a breezy 75 miles per hour, as reported by the NHC.
